Why I care about this work? My passion for this work comes from a lifelong belief that every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, purpose, and independence. Having overcome significant challenges in my own life, including growing up in the foster care system, I understand the impact that support, guidance, and advocacy can have on a person's future.

I founded DSP Ready Institute because I believe Direct Support Professionals deserve high-quality training that prepares them not only to meet compliance requirements but to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals they serve. My goal is to help caregivers develop the skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to provide safe, person-centered support while elevating the direct support profession as a whole.

Every training I deliver is rooted in the belief that when we invest in caregivers, we improve outcomes, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for individuals to live fuller, more independent lives.

With more than 20 years of experience in human services, Tonya C. Wilson has dedicated her career to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while developing the caregivers and professionals who serve them.

As a residential services leader, trainer, author, and entrepreneur, Tonya has worked directly with individuals, families, direct support professionals, healthcare teams, and provider organizations to improve service quality, workforce readiness, and person-centered support.

Tonya founded DSP Ready Institute LLC with a simple mission:
